BSHRM 2025 executives challenged to Thrive- On Thursday, Jan 30th, 2025, The Bahamas Society for Human Resource Management (BSHRM) installed its 2025 executive team at Goldwynn Resort and Residences. The local association is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management, the world's largest body of Human Resource (HR) professionals. BSHRM provides a forum for HR and business professionals to discuss current HR-related and business issues, enhance their knowledge and skills and provide technical support to its members.
Keynote Speaker, the Superintendent of Insurance, Dana Munnings-Gray, admonished the new executive board and well-wishers to adopt a mindset to thrive despite any obstacles as she provided a glimpse into several life-changing obstacles. Superintendent Munnings-Gray noted that "because people spend most of their time at work, Human Resource management remains the driving force to shaping the culture of our organizations". The Superintendent encouraged HR professionals to not only thrive in delivering the highest quality of service to stakeholders but also carve out to time to thrive personally.
Incoming President Lashanta Smith outlined the association's vision and objectives for 2025 that are next established on the foundation set by the history of strong and innovative leaders of BSHRM. In 2024, under President Smith’s leadership, BSHRM successfully partnered with the University of The Bahamas, the Rotary Club of Old Fort, and the Department of Labour to provide bespoke training and networking opportunities. Moreover, BSHRM’s participation in the Department of Labour’s Labour Symposium sparked a discussion regarding 4-day work weeks. The year ended with its annual conference and the inaugural release of the association’s dual membership release program. President Smith also explained, "The 2025 theme: ‘THRIVE - Talent, HR Strategy, Innovation, Value and Empowerment’, not only encapsulates this executive board’s vision to grow the impact of HR professionals, it focuses on harnessing talent through strategic initiatives, driving innovation in our practices and delivering value across programs.
