The world of work is evolving rapidly, and the role of Human Resources has never been more critical. Today, HR professionals are not only supporting organizations—they are shaping culture, strengthening productivity, guiding compliance, and influencing national competitiveness. As President of SHRM Bahamas for 2026, I am honored to help lead a community of professionals who are committed to elevating the HR profession and advancing better workplaces throughout The Bahamas.

Our focus for the year ahead is intentional, strategic, and bold. We are committed to strengthening our relationship with SHRM International to ensure our members have access to world-class resources, insights, and opportunities that elevate the HR profession locally. At the same time, we will continue to deepen our partnerships with key national stakeholders—including the Ministry of Labour and Public Service, the Department of Labour, the National Tripartite Council, the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, and the Eugene Dupuch Law School—to help shape meaningful conversations around labour legislation, workforce development, and national apprenticeship initiatives.

In 2026, we envision bold growth across our membership, certifications, and professional development opportunities. Through globally recognized pathways such as SHRM and HRCI certifications, and in alignment with national initiatives like Upskill Bahamas, we will continue equipping HR professionals with the tools needed to lead in an evolving world of work. We are especially excited about the reestablishment of the University of The Bahamas SHRM Chapter, reconnecting us with the next generation of HR leaders and expanding our reach into educational institutions and apprenticeship programs that will shape the future workforce of The Bahamas.

As President, my commitment is to lead with integrity, listen with intention, and ensure SHRM Bahamas remains a trusted voice, a professional home, and a catalyst for progress. This journey is not about one person—it is about all of us working together to advance the HR profession and strengthen workplaces across our nation. Together with our executive team, members, and partners, we will continue to build, lead, and shape the future of work in The Bahamas.
